The Bougie Cowgirl Brand
The Bougie Cowgirl brand was created by Dr. Shantuan Coleman Taylor. Bougie Cowgirl is an affectionate name her late father called her when she was not happy about cleaning stalls or unsaddling her horse. In an effort to honor him she hit the road by having creating a Bourgeois Cowgirl Experience for women all over. She decided to createa brunch tour that visited various cities throughout the US. The purpose of the Brunch Tour was to empower other business women and share her story of being raised as a cowgirl of color while exposing others to all things cowboy through the eyes of a girl from Cowtown. In addition, it gave women an opportunity to meet, mingle, network and celebrate their entrepreneurial successes. The tour came to a halt when Covid-19 hit. Therefore she had to revamp the experience.
Dr. Shantuan had the 1st Bourgeois Cowgirl Online Brunch Experience where she invited women entrepreneurs who inspired her. The meeting was about creating a space to boast about Beautiful, Outstanding Unapologetic and Gorgeous Individual Entrepreneurs (BOUGIE). It was an opportunity to talk with like-minded women to inspire them on how they all could revamp their businesses due to the pandemic and survive. At the close of that brunch the name changed from Bourgeois Cowgirl to “BOUGIE COWGIRL!” It is just like Lebron James said, “African-American women are some of the strongest people on earth. And it is stunning.” From that event Dr. Shantuan started working on a wine and candle collection inspired by a family member called Bougie Cowgirl. Dr. Shantuan is a cowgirl and equestrian first, then an entrepreneur, engineer, educator/professor.
